Effective Management Program (EMP) is a four-step management development process that provides a 360° assessment on 17 important management and leadership dimensions, that:
- embodies a comprehensive management development inventory
- details strengths and needs planning tools
- creates specific developmental action plans
- initiates a comprehensive coaching process, and
- provides for a structured re-assessment and refinement process.
Course Length
2½ to 3½ Days (over 6 to12 months) and On-going Peer Coaching Sessions
Goals and Objectives
- To help participants identify their strengths and most pressing development needs.
- To guide participants in planning for their own leadership development and in moving from understanding to action.
- To provide information that will allow participants to make intelligent choices among alternative leadership practices.
- To help managers lead in ways that get results, that are personally satisfying and morally sound, and that empower rather than overpower subordinates.
Course Outline
- 1. 136 Item Management Development Inventories (MDI’s) are completed and computer analyzed by 8 to 20 Superiors, Peers, Direct Reports and Self (Distributed during ½ day Introductory session)
- 2. Confidential MDI profiles are distributed during a 1 day follow-up workshop & training session.
- 3. Self-study and seminar-based learning sessions are implemented (monitored remotely and via the pre-chosen on-site champion).
- 4. An individualized plan is developed to facilitate improvement in personally selected areas.
- 5. An orchestrated 6-12 month mentoring/coaching process is implemented (typically rotating quarterly)
- 6. Follow-up MDI’s are administered in 6-12 months to track improvements and changes in personal management competencies (post-assessment evaluations included within investment).
